Spring Ahead this March with the Library

Spring Ahead This March With The Library!
March is one of my favorite times of the year and the library is offering ways for you and your family to think spring and celebrate reading. First, March is when spring officially begins – on the 20th this year – and there is something hopeful about seeing the first bulbs emerge and knowing that the days are longer for the next six months! March is also a great time to begin planning your summer garden and the Dansville Library can help with that beyond our wide selection of gardening books. This year we are offering free green bean seeds of the ‘Provider Bean’ variety through the One Seed, One State initiative. This collaboration of seed libraries across Michigan promotes growing, saving and sharing seeds. Seed packets will be available for pick-up from March 1st and remain available while supplies last. The second reason why I like March is because it is celebrated as National Reading Month – although every month is Reading Month for me! In recognition of Reading Month we are providing an early literacy calendar geared towards families with preschool and early elementary-aged children. There are fun and easy ideas featured for incorporating reading into daily routines and completed calendars can be returned to the library for a small prize. March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’ birthday, and in celebration the library is providing a Take & Make kit that features a free book and activities from March 1-5.
All of these kits may be requested by calling the library at 517-623-6511 or through the online reservation system www.cadl.org/mytime.
