The Red Shedd
Dan and Melissa Chelf
Woodworking has always been an interest of Dan Chelf’s, and he’s built a bit of everything that doesn’t require upholstery around a house. He planned to eventually retire from his Data Tech job into woodworking, and then there was Covid…and some eye problems…and retirement happened quickly. Dan and Melissa design, build, and finish wood furniture. They use inspiration photos to begin projects, and have worked on a variety of projects including kitchens, entertainment centers, coffee bars, and tables. Their style is a mixture of shaker, rustic, and farmhouse. Dan is the primary builder, and Melissa handles a lot of the sanding, staining, and finishing. Their son Henry is helping with the lathe, and their daughter Ellie helps with Red Shedd social media. Their daughter Jane attends Beekman in Lansing. Dan and Melissa have thoroughly enjoyed building this business, and have several projects currently on order. They have each recently suffered hand injuries, and will both require surgery. They are looking forward to being back to 100% and having full use of their hands! Work continues at this time, and you can reach them through their Facebook page The Red Shedd. There you will find more great photos of their projects. Like their page to keep up with their adventures!
